Valentine’s day is just around the corner! This month of love, we must not only focus on the tangible gifts we can give to our significant other. Surely, the flowers, chocolates, teddy bears, and all the other stuff you could render as a present to your loved one are the easiest way to convey your unending love for them. You can communicate your feelings for them through all of these socially-constructed gifts. But do all of these matters? Well, for many, it could be a “yes,” since we are talking about yourself spending money to make someone happy. It could also be a “yes” because you just saved up all your allowance just to give your crush a beautiful bouquet of flowers. You could give a “yes” as an answer to this question due to many, probable reasons.
However, I personally think that your love for someone cannot be solely measured by the list of things you have given to him or her. The sacrifices you have secretly made for them are the best ones here you can offer. The effort you have exerted to put a smile on someone’s face is the best gift you could give. The understanding person you become when your significant other is down is also one way of telling them you are always there. All of these are more than enough to tell you really love someone. What really matters most is you knowing that you are trying to give your all just to make that special person happy.
